How much does MRU cost?
First year, at this year's prices, for a student from Ontario. Each program's page adds up its own total.
Tuition over the years
First-year arts tuition for a student from the school's own province, as the school published it each year.
What is it like at MRU?
The same whatever program you pick.
- Who gets a room
- Money just for your marks
- No automatic entrance scholarships published
- First-years who rate it good or excellent
- Not published
- Finish their degree
- Not published
- Ways in without the usual marks
- University Entrance Option (UEO). A non-credential route for students who are missing a required course or need higher grades: university-level credit courses (mostly transferable), preparatory electives and high school equivalent courses (English 30-1, Math 30, Biology 30 and so on) planned with an advisor. It "doesn't guarantee admission" to a degree, but supports a later application. Who: High school or mature applicants with five Grade 12 courses (3 Group A, 1 Group A or B, 1 Group A, B or C; no specific subjects required); competitive range 60 to 65%, minimum final average 60%. Not open to anyone with four or more post-secondary courses. Any province.
- Mature applicant admission. Mature applicants need only two Grade 12 courses (more if the program requires more), and the competitive average is calculated on the two highest Group A courses, as for high school applicants. Who: Applicants 21 or older on 1 September (fall entry) who do not meet the high school requirements and have too few post-secondary courses to apply as transfer students; any province.
- Indigenous University Bridging Program (IUBP). Offered through the Iniskim Centre: academic upgrading plus first-year university courses with Indigenous cultural support (tutoring, advising, mentors, Elders). Students complete the requirements for the program they want to enter. Enrolment is limited. Who: Students of Indigenous ancestry who have completed Grade 10 or higher; IUBP application form and all transcripts. Apply 1 February to 15 May for fall, 15 September to 15 November for winter.
- Open Studies. Take MRU university courses without being admitted to a program; credits can transfer into an MRU degree, and students can complete admission requirements or show recent academic work. Not a credential. Who: Anyone meeting English language proficiency; no high school average needed.
- Academic Upgrading. High school equivalent courses for adults aligned with the Alberta curriculum (for example ENGL 0130 English Language Arts 30-1, MATH 0130 Mathematics 30-1, BIOL 0130, CHEM 0130, PHYS 0130), alone or combined with Open Studies or the University Entrance Option. Who: Adults who need to raise grades or complete missing Grade 12 courses.
