  • University 1 Limited Admission. Applicants who do not meet University 1's regular minimum are "automatically considered for Limited Admission": they start in University 1 with "Some registration restrictions and performance standards" and "additional academic supports and services". Who: Canadian citizens and permanent residents applying from high school (Ontario included) with a minimum 65% average over ENG4U, Mathematics 4U and two academic 4U or 4M courses, no less than 55% in each.
  • Mature Applicant Category. Adults who do not meet the academic requirements can apply as mature students to a direct entry option. Engineering mature applicants still need at least 70% in Grade 12 English, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics with an 80% average; Art and Music mature applicants still need the portfolio or audition. Others interested in advanced entry programs apply to University 1. Who: Canadian citizens or permanent residents aged 21 or older (by 30 September for September entry) with fewer than 24 credit hours of college or university who do not meet the program's academic requirements; any province.
  • Access Program (UMAP, Health Careers Access Program, Blue Heron Education Access Pathway). A supported route for students who have faced barriers: a Common First Year with classes of no more than 30, literacy and science preparation, tutoring, academic, personal and financial advising, and cultural supports, from first year to graduation. Admission by application, two references and an interview (May to June); a two-week orientation in late August. Who: First Nations, Inuit and Metis students, residents of Northern Manitoba and remote areas, students with financial need and newcomers to Manitoba who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents and "must reside in Manitoba at the time of their studies" (exceptions case by case); the Health Careers Access Program is for Indigenous students only. Ontario residents are generally not eligible.
  • Engineering Access Program (ENGAP). Support for Indigenous students to get into and succeed in engineering: a two-week summer orientation with refresher courses, possible introductory courses in math, physics, computer science and chemistry for those who need them, free tutoring, counselling and bursaries. Admission to the preliminary year is recommended "on a holistic basis", and 8 spaces a year in the five engineering programs are set aside for ENGAP students below the regular cut-off. Who: People of Indigenous ancestry (Status, Non-status, Inuit or Metis) with an aptitude for math, physics and chemistry, from high school, an adult learning centre or as mature learners; no province limit stated. Apply by 1 May.
  • Wawatay Scholars (Faculty of Science, Canadian Indigenous Ancestry Category). An Indigenous admission category for the Faculty of Science with a lower academic floor than general admission: an online application with an autobiography, an essay question and two reference letters, a formal interview, and ranking on essay, interview and high school average. Who: First Nations, Metis and Inuit applicants with documentation of ancestry and a minimum 70% average over English, Mathematics and two academic Grade 12 courses (60% in each); the page lists the Manitoba courses.
  • Canadian Indigenous Ancestry Category (Interdisciplinary Health). For First Nations, Metis and Inuit applicants to the Bachelor of Health Sciences or Health Studies "who have completed the above minimum admission requirements, but who do not meet the cutoff average established for this year's admission". Who: Self-declared First Nations, Metis and Inuit applicants with documentation, meeting the program's 85% minimum and prerequisites; no province limit stated.
  • Diploma in Agriculture with the Diploma to Degree Pathway. A two-year applied diploma with a 60% admission minimum (and an Individual Consideration category for students without suitable high school standing). Graduates with a 2.0 degree GPA can move into the Agribusiness, Agriculture or Agroecology BSc (Bachelor of Science) with up to 60 credit hours transferred; up to 25 seats a year are reserved for them. Who: High school graduates from any province with ENG4U, MHF4U or MCV4U and one of SBI4U, SCH4U, SPH4U or ICS4U (60% average), or Individual Consideration applicants.
