Nearly 5.4 million people work in arts and culture

The National Endowment for the Arts tracks the arts economy with the federal statistics agency and counts close to 5.4 million Americans working across 35 arts and cultural industries. Most of them are not standing at an easel, which is exactly the point: art skills feed a lot of jobs.
