A typical day

There is no schedule unless you build one, which is the hardest part of the job. A working day might be four hours in the studio, then two hours of email, invoices, shipping a sold piece, and filling in an application. Deadlines cluster: nothing for six weeks, then a show to install and a commission due the same Friday. Many artists work a shift somewhere else first and paint from 7pm to midnight for years.
