A typical day

In by 7am to case the mail: sorting the day's letters into delivery order for your route, alongside the parcels, which now make up a growing share of the load. Out on the street by mid morning. Then it is the route, on foot and in the vehicle, for most of the day, in whatever weather is happening. Back to the office in the late afternoon to clear accountable items and sign out. The same streets, the same people, six days a week.
