What average do you need for each RMC program?
0 first-year programs you can apply to straight from Grade 12, grouped by field. Open one for its required courses, extra steps, cost and the same program elsewhere.
3 other programs are not a straight application from Grade 12 in Ontario:
- No: you apply to the Canadian Armed Forces as an officer cadet by 31 January (Regular Officer Training Plan), not through the Ontario application centre. The Forces pay tuition and books and pay you a salary; you then serve about 5 years.
They are in the comparer.
How much does RMC cost?
First year, at this year's prices, for a student from Ontario. Each program's page adds up its own total.

- Preparatory Year at Royal Military College Saint-Jean. A year at RMC Saint-Jean (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec), equivalent to Grade 12 in most provinces, which forces.ca says is also "designed for applicants from across Canada who demonstrate strong academic ability but are missing prerequisites for direct admission to First Year". It is the normal entry for Quebec Secondary V graduates. Cadets then typically begin their degree at RMC Saint-Jean. Who: ROTP (Regular Officer Training Plan) applicants from any province missing prerequisites (placement decided through the Forces); Prep Year needs a high school diploma and 70% or higher in the academic requirement courses.
- Indigenous Leadership Opportunity Year (ILOY). A one-year program at RMC for Indigenous candidates, enrolled as officer cadets and paid at their rank, with free tuition and books: tutorials in pre-university (non-credit) and first-year university courses, leadership, military training, sports and cultural activities with Elders. Participants may leave at any time. At the end, those who meet the academic requirements can apply to continue at RMC in a degree under ROTP (Regular Officer Training Plan), or become a Non-Commissioned Member. Who: First Nations (Status or Non-Status), Metis or Inuit; Canadian citizen; 16 or older; completed Grade 12, Secondary V or the GED (General Educational Development test) in the current year. Applications open in November, best sent before the end of February.
- Mature Student Status. For people 21 or older who do not meet the academic prerequisites. Limited to the Bachelor of Arts (General), the Bachelor of Military Arts and Science and RMC Online certificates; Science and Engineering need the normal prerequisites. Applicants must also meet RMC's eligibility rules, so it is not a route for a civilian school leaver, and these degrees are closed to ROTP (Regular Officer Training Plan) cadets. Who: 21 or older on the first day of classes and eligible for RMC (serving or released MOSID-qualified CAF member, DND or federal employee, or spouse of a Regular Force member).
What do RMC graduates earn?
Statistics Canada does not publish pay by university, only by field for each province's graduates. Figures are for Ontario bachelor's graduates, the class of 2022 two years after and the class of 2019 five years after, in 2024 dollars.
| Field | Two years after (class of 2022) | Five years after (class of 2019) |
