A typical day

A morning clinic of 12 to 20 patients: type 1 and type 2 diabetes, thyroid nodules, osteoporosis, a rare adrenal tumour. Each visit is a review of numbers, sugars, insulin doses, bone density, thyroid levels, then a plan. Afternoon: hospital consults for patients whose sugars are out of control after surgery, or a thyroid biopsy clinic. Home at a normal hour most days. Call is by phone, rarely in person.
