Credentials that change your pay

• American Translators Association certification

  A three hour, open book, proctored exam, graded pass or fail only, offered for specific language pairs. It is the recognized translation credential in the country.

• Federal or state court certification

  Written exam first, then a hard oral exam. Pass rates are famously low and the day rates are published and good.

• Healthcare interpreter certification

  The Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters offers knowledge-based and performance-based credentials accredited by the national commission that accredits certifying bodies.

• Sign language certification

  Through the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf, plus whatever your own state requires for school and legal settings.
