A typical day

If you translate, you are at a desk. Coffee, then four or five hours of focused work, because accurate translating is intense and you cannot do it for eight hours straight. Afternoons go to research, editing and admin. If you interpret, you go where the language is needed: a hospital at 8am for a pre-surgery consult, a school meeting at 11, a deposition at 2. You listen, hold a sentence in your head, and say it again in another language while the next sentence is already arriving.
