A typical shift
Take over the desk and read the shift notes: who is arriving, what broke, which guest is unhappy. Morning is checkouts and folios, afternoon is the check-in rush between 3pm and 7pm, all of it interrupted by phone calls, package deliveries and lost key cards. Between the rushes you block rooms, chase housekeeping for a clean one, and handle whatever walks through the door. On the overnight shift you run the audit, post the day's charges, print the morning reports, and keep the lobby safe until the sun comes up.
