The different producer jobs

• Line producer

  Builds and defends the budget and runs the physical shoot. The most hireable producing job there is.

• Unit production manager

  The day to day manager of crew, contracts, locations and cost reports.

• Creative producer

  Finds the material, attaches writer and director, and shepherds it for years. Highest risk, highest reward.

• Executive producer

  Usually the person who brought the money or the rights. Sometimes deeply involved, sometimes not involved at all.

• Post-production supervisor

  Runs editing, sound, visual effects and delivery. A technical specialty with steady demand.
