A typical day

Clinic. Fourteen to twenty appointments, most of them people you have known for years. You read glucose downloads before the patient sits down, then spend the visit working out why the numbers moved and what in their life caused it. Between patients you answer messages, adjust doses, chase lab results and argue with an insurer about a drug they will not cover. One or two new referrals a day are genuine puzzles nobody else could solve, and those are the reason people pick this specialty.
