Endorsements that open doors

• Commercial driver training

  Instructing for a truck driving school. Requires a CDL (commercial driver's license) of your own and pays better than teaching teenagers.

• Motorcycle safety instructor

  A separate certification, usually seasonal, and often run through a state program.

• State teaching certificate

  Turns the job into a salaried high school position with a pension and summers on contract.

• Adaptive driving instruction

  Teaching drivers with disabilities using hand controls and modified vehicles. Specialized, and there are very few people doing it.

• Defensive driving and fleet training

  Companies pay for their delivery and service drivers to be trained and retrained.
