A typical shift

An afternoon shift in a group home starts around 3pm. You take handover from the morning staff, then it is real life: getting people home from work or day programs, helping with medication, cooking dinner together, driving someone to a bowling league, helping another person with a shower. In between you write notes on everything, because those notes are the legal record. Late evening is quiet, bedtime routines, tidying, and the log for the overnight staff.
