A typical day

Clinic: 20 to 30 patients with sprained ankles, torn knees, stress fractures, tendon pain and concussions. You examine, order imaging, inject a joint under ultrasound, and build a return-to-play plan with physiotherapists. Evening: the sideline at a junior hockey game or a university football match, bag packed, ready for a broken collarbone or a player who cannot remember the last play. Weekends can be tournaments. Team travel comes in bursts.
