• Backcountry travel

• Swiftwater and rope rescue

  Useful for the visitor safety side of park work and for moving between roles.

• Wildland firefighting

  Fire crew experience is common on a warden's resume and gets you into a park in the first place.

  French is a real advantage in federal hiring, and Indigenous languages matter in many parks.
