• Customs broker licence or qualified officer status

• Certified customs specialist

  The industry association's designation. Widely asked for in job postings.

• Trade compliance specialization

  Large importers such as retailers and car makers hire in-house compliance people at higher pay than brokerages.

• US customs knowledge

  Brokerages on the border file both ways. Knowing the US system too makes you rare.
