Credentials that raise your pay

• Certified Crop Adviser

  The main working credential in North American agronomy. Two exams plus experience, then ongoing education to keep it.

• Professional Agrologist (P.Ag.)

  Registration with your provincial institute. Needed to sign certain plans and reports.

• 4R nutrient stewardship designation

  Focused on applying fertilizer at the right rate, time and place. Increasingly asked for by grain buyers.

• Precision agriculture skills

  Yield maps, variable-rate prescriptions and drone imagery. Few agronomists do this well and it pays.
