A typical day

You arrive before the students and get materials ready. Through the morning you sit with a small group on reading while the teacher runs the rest of the class, or you shadow one student who needs help to get through the day. You cover a bathroom break, walk someone to the nurse, and defuse an argument at the door. Recess and lunch are supervision, not a break. Afternoons are more small group work, then copying, laminating and setting up tomorrow. You go home when the students do, which is one of the real attractions of this job.
