A typical shift

Arrive, take a handover from the operator going home, and read the log. Walk the plant: boilers, chillers, pumps, air compressors, water tanks. Record pressures and temperatures, test and dose the water, top up chemicals. Most of the shift is quiet watching and small repairs. Then an alarm goes off at 2am, and you are the person who has to decide in a minute whether to shut a piece of equipment down.
