A typical day in a school

You arrive before the students and check your schedule, which is a jigsaw of 20 and 30 minute sessions. You pull small groups out of class, or push into a classroom and work alongside the teacher. Between sessions you write notes on every goal, because the services you deliver are legally documented. There is at least one meeting with parents and teachers most weeks. In a hospital the day looks different: you assess a stroke patient's swallowing at the bedside, decide what they can safely eat, and tell a family that their father cannot have his coffee yet.
