How the years usually run

Everyone starts in a field office, anywhere in the country, for at least three years. There you investigate financial crime: counterfeit money, card fraud, bank and wire fraud, and network break-ins. Then most agents move to a protective assignment in the Washington area for at least six years. After that comes a choice: back to the field, headquarters, training, or an office overseas.
