High school diploma
Grade 12
That is the stated requirement. Shop, auto and electrical classes are the useful ones.

Get into a service department
Weeks
Lot attendant, prep technician or apprentice at a dealership or a service center. Dealers hire people with no experience because nobody arrives with experience.

Level 1 certification
1 week
Covers propane, electrical, water, appliances, body, generator and chassis well enough to prepare a unit for a customer. One week in person or about 32 hours online.

Level 2, the diagnostic level
Months later
Where you stop replacing parts and start finding out why something failed. This is the level that changes your pay.

Levels 3 and 4
2 to 5 years
Specialty work and the top certification. Years of hands-on work sit behind these, not just a course.
