A typical day

In a community pharmacy: open up, work through the queue of prescriptions, check every one a technician has filled, call doctors about unclear or risky orders, fight with insurance rejections, counsel patients at the window, give flu shots between all of it. Twelve hour shifts are common, sometimes with no pharmacist to relieve you. In a hospital it is quieter and more clinical: dosing decisions, sterile compounding, ward rounds with doctors, and checking orders for patients you never meet.
