• Firefighter certification

  Most well-paid municipal medic jobs in the United States are fire department jobs. This is the single biggest pay lever in the field.

• Critical care paramedic

  Ventilators, drips and balloon pumps for hospital-to-hospital transfers. A recognized add-on credential.

• Flight paramedic

  Helicopter work. Needs experience, a critical care credential, and a tolerance for weight limits and weather.

• Tactical and wilderness medicine

  Supporting police operations or working far from a road. Niche, and genuinely different medicine.
