What music teachers make

The federal wage survey does not publish a music teacher figure on its own. It counts private music teachers inside a broader group called Self-Enrichment Teachers, whose national median is $46,800 a year, with the bottom tenth near $30,050 and the top tenth at $92,840. Public school band and choir directors are counted with other school teachers instead, and are paid on their district's teacher salary schedule.
