A typical day

You badge into a building where phones are not allowed past the door and your laptop never leaves the room. Morning is reading: overnight reporting, other agencies' assessments, open press in your target language. Then the writing, and the arguing about the writing, because someone in the next office reads it differently. Midday is a coordination meeting where three agencies decide what the community will collectively say. The rest of the afternoon goes to a longer paper nobody will see for weeks. You go home and cannot tell anyone a single specific thing you did.
