A typical day

Two to five appointments, each 45 to 60 minutes. Before each one you read the chart, draw a family tree back three generations and work out which test is worth ordering. In the room you explain what a result can and cannot tell them, then help them decide. After that come chart notes, phone calls with labs, insurance paperwork and calling people back with results, some of which are hard news.
