A typical day

Truck loaded by 7am, then out to a stand. Morning is field work: running a cruise line, measuring diameters and heights, marking trees with paint, flagging a road layout, checking how a logging job is going. Afternoon is often the office: entering data, drawing the stand on a map, writing the prescription, calling the landowner. Spring is planting, summer can be fire, fall is harvest season, winter is planning. Some weeks you barely see another person.
