A typical day

Mostly a desk and a screen. You open a set of building drawings, work out how many sprinkler heads a space needs and what water pressure will feed them, check that people can get out of every room in time, and write it up so the local building official signs off. Meetings with architects who want the fewest visible pipes possible. Some weeks you are on site watching a sprinkler system get pressure tested, or in a building department arguing one code point for an hour.
