A typical day

Three or four site visits: a new restaurant before it opens, an apartment building on its annual check, a warehouse where somebody complained. You walk exits, check extinguishers and sprinkler tags, look at wiring and storage, and write up what is wrong with a deadline to fix it. Back at the office you review building plans, answer contractors, and follow up on last month's violations. When a serious fire happens, you get called out to it, sometimes in the middle of the night.
