A typical day

Two or three client meetings, each an hour, about retirement dates, a house, a new baby, an inheritance or a job loss. Between them you build and update plans in planning software, check portfolios against the plan, and answer the email from the client who read something alarming. There is a steady background of compliance paperwork. The good days are the ones where you tell someone they can afford to stop working, and you are the first person who has ever told them that.
