A typical day

In a school you pull small groups out of their regular classes, or you sit alongside a subject teacher helping the same students follow a science lesson. In an adult program you teach an evening class of people who worked all day: a nurse from one country, a builder from another, someone who has been in the United States for three weeks. You plan around what they actually need, which is often filling in a form, talking to a landlord or passing a work test, not the textbook chapter. You assess constantly, because everyone in the room is at a different point.
