A typical day

Check overnight alerts and whether every backup actually finished. Mid-morning, look at the queries that ran slowest yesterday and work out why. Afternoon is usually a change request: a developer wants a new table or a new index, and you review it before it reaches the live system. Somewhere in there, a security review, a patch to schedule, and a permissions request from someone who should not have that permission. A good day is a boring day.
