A typical day

Shipments arrive overnight, so the morning is triage: which containers are cleared, which are held, which are missing a document. You classify goods against the tariff schedule, work out duty, file the entry electronically and answer the agency's questions. Then the phone: an importer whose truck is stuck, a supplier who sent the wrong invoice, a customer who wants to know why a tariff changed last week. Month end brings duty payments and audits. Ports and airports run early, so brokerage days start early.
