A typical day

Morning is court: a calendar of arraignments, bail arguments and pleas, often a dozen clients you meet in the hallway or in a holding cell minutes before their case is called. Afternoon is the desk: reading police reports and body camera video, filing motions to suppress evidence, chasing discovery from the prosecutor, phone calls from families. Trials are rare, because the large majority of criminal cases end in a plea. The ones that do go to trial take over your life for a week or more.
