A typical day

Come in, check what came off the overnight run and whether the instrument stayed in calibration. Log the samples that arrived: raw material for a plant, batches from production, bottles from a river. Prepare them, which is most of the work: weighing, dissolving, diluting, filtering. Load the instruments and let them run. Between runs you enter results, flag anything out of specification and tell somebody quickly, because a failed test can stop a production line. Clean down at the end, because tomorrow's results depend on it.
