A typical day

A process engineer at a plant starts with overnight data: temperatures, pressures, yields, and whatever went out of range at 3am. Morning meeting with operations about what is limiting production today. Then a walk out into the unit in boots, hard hat and safety glasses to look at the actual equipment. Afternoon is at a desk: modeling a change, writing a safety review, arguing about a capital project. Once or twice a year there is a turnaround, the plant shuts down, and you live there for three weeks.
