A typical day

Morning is wet work while your hands are fresh: throwing a run of the same form for two or three hours straight. Late morning you trim yesterday's pots, which have stiffened to the right hardness overnight. Afternoon is glazing, loading a kiln, answering messages about an order, and packing boxes for shipping. A firing runs 8 to 14 hours and you check it. Somewhere in there you sweep wet, never dry, because dry clay dust is the thing that hurts you.
