A typical trip

You do not work days, you work trips: often three or four days away, then several days off. Report an hour before the first flight, check weather and fuel, brief the crew, fly two to five legs, then a hotel. Most of the flying is done by the autopilot while you monitor systems, talk to controllers and plan the arrival. Takeoff and landing are the hands-on parts, and there are only a few minutes of them per flight.
