A typical shift

Hospital nurses usually work 12-hour shifts, often 3 or 4 a week, rotating days and nights. You take report at handover, assess your patients, give medications, coordinate with doctors and families, chart everything, and respond when things change fast. Clinic and community nurses work more regular daytime hours.
