A typical day

Start at the utility shop at 7am with a tailboard safety meeting. Drive to a substation to test a transformer's protection relays, following a written switching order step by step to isolate the equipment first. Afternoon: replace a faulty breaker control, update the drawings, log the tests. On a callout night you might be at a generating station at 2am chasing a fault so the plant can come back online. Most days end at 3:30pm; outages do not.
