A typical shift

Long-term care, day shift: help 8 to 12 residents wake, wash, dress and get to breakfast, all before 9. Then feeding, toileting, repositioning people who cannot move themselves, walking others, charting. After lunch, the same again. You know each resident's habits and moods, and you are often the person who notices when something is wrong. Home care instead: 4 to 8 visits a day, driving between them.
