A typical day

Morning rounds on the stroke unit. A clinic of 10 to 20 patients with headaches, numbness, seizures, tremor or memory loss, each visit 20 to 45 minutes of detailed history and hands-on exam. Reading EEG (electroencephalogram) results in the afternoon. On stroke call, a page means running to the scanner: the drug has to go in within hours or it does not work.
