  Kidneys, hormones, joints. Clinic-based, steadier hours.

• Hematology, medical oncology, infectious diseases

  Blood, cancer, infections. Often salaried in academic centres.

• Critical care, geriatrics, palliative care

  The ICU (intensive care unit), older adults, end of life.
