A typical day
Mornings are for the work that needs a clear head: thumbnails, sketches, the drawing that is due. Afternoons are email, quotes, invoices and revisions. A freelance week usually holds two or three jobs at different stages, plus one pitch that may go nowhere. On staff at a studio the day is more fixed: a morning review of yesterday's work, notes from an art director, then hours of painting with headphones on.
