A typical day

Office weeks: run models, pull years of river data, prepare flood maps and write technical reports for a municipality or a mine. Field weeks: drive to gauging stations, wade or boat into a river to measure how fast it is flowing, service instruments, pump and sample wells. During a flood or drought event you are on call, watching gauges and phoning emergency managers with what the river will do in the next 24 hours.
