A typical day

A line of students outside your door before first period: a timetable conflict, a failed course, a university application due tonight. Between those, scheduled appointments and the ones that are not about courses at all. You sit with a student in crisis and make the call to a parent or to a child protection agency. In the fall it is applications and reference letters. In February it is course selection for the whole school. Every day mixes paperwork with the heaviest conversations in the building.
