A typical day

Mostly a desk job. A request comes in: where should the new fire hall go, which properties flood, how much forest burned. You pull data from a spatial database, clean it, run the analysis, then build a map or dashboard that answers the question in one look. Between requests you maintain the data itself, fix bad records and write scripts so the same job runs itself next time. Some roles include field days collecting points with a tablet and a satellite receiver.
