A typical day

Open a set of drawings for a 40-storey tower and check the things that keep people alive: two exits, stair pressurisation, travel distance, fire separations, sprinkler coverage. Run a smoke model on an atrium the architect wants to leave open. Write the report that justifies it to the city. Then a call with a building official who does not agree, and a site visit to a project where the contractor cut a hole through a fire wall.
